7 Easy Steps for Planning the BEST Sleepover Ever

40winksevents

So, you're ready to plan that much anticipated sleepover? Yay, good for you! But no need to do it alone--Let 40 Winks take some of the weight off your shoulders. We help make sleepovers easy to plan, fun to host, and clean up a breeze! What are we waiting for? Let's get started!!

#1 Number of Guests

Find a number you're comfortable entertaining and one that your location can accommodate. Be sure you have a cozy spot that's large enough for your guests and their belongings. I've always found parties with an equal number of guests is a good thing! In some cases, when there's an odd number someone always seems to be left out of the fun. Even is the way to go!

#2 Date & Time

Secure a date that is good for your family, but keeping other schedules in mind as well. Therefore, choosing a date that is near or on a holiday might not give you the turn out you were hoping for. Perhaps hosting the weekend before or after a holiday might be better. Once you've decided on a date, establishing a drop off and pick up time is a must. I've found having parents drop off right before dinner and picking up the following day, sometime late morning works best.

#3 Location

Not sure you have enough room to host or maybe you don't have enough time/motivation to clean the entire house? Not to worry, there are options. Renting a hotel room or a banquet room for the sleepover is an easy, stress-free way to host without the added pressure of cleaning up. Or perhaps you have a family member who would be willing to allow you to use their basement for the night? As a last resort, limit your guest list to what you can comfortably fit in your living room or kid's bedroom.

#4 Activities

You'll want to keep them entertained! A mix of physical, high energy activities and soft, relaxing things are a good idea. Minute to win it games, dance offs, and charades are all fun things to do at the beginning of the night. You'll want more quiet, individual activities planned for the late evening hours. Movie marathons, manis/pedis, and crafts are all things that can set a laid-back relaxing tone to the evening.

#5 Food

Food is one of the best parts of a sleepover! Planning a dinner the guests can help with makes the sleepover that much fun! Create your own pizza or sandwiches are easy and fun. These options allow guests to make exactly what they want, too! You can't forget the snacks! Popcorn, candy, and ice cream are all essential when hosting a sleepover. If your guest will be staying until late morning, grab a dozen donuts and some milk for an easy, on the go breakfast.

#6 Supplies

Be sure you're stocked up on all the basics. Paper plates, cups, silverware, toilet paper, and POPCORN should all be on your list. The last thing you want to do is make an evening run to Dollar General when you have a house full of sleepover guests.

#7 RELAX AND HAVE FUN

Resist the urge to create a schedule. Allow yourself to be in the moment and enjoy the company of your guests. Just allow the night to flow and evolve naturally. Have fun!
